This is the most read article on More Magazine’s website this week.  I can clearly see why.  It is so important to listen to our bodies and to get moving at whatever level gives us some physical activity. 

This morning, I was at the hospital visiting my mother, who is recovering from a stroke.  Over the weekend, she received no physical therapy because each time they came by, she said she was too tired.  While she was there, the PT came by.  I insisted that they get her out of bed so that the blood could circulate to her feet.  Just getting up out of bed, moving a little and getting her neck and body out of the same position made her much more aware!  She sat up in bed, ate lunch and engaged in conversation– all because she moved around a little. 

I have maintained my exercise regimen through this.  Not because I have the time but because I can’t afford to get out of shape.  I have also walked to a more distant elevator and parked my car at the back of the parking lot.  Any extra steps I can get in are movement.
